Core Values

Worship

Jesus said the greatest commandment was to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength." So that's what we want to do. It's so much more than praising God with music (which we love), but rather it's giving everything to God. Loving his presence, and seeking after it. Giving up our plans for his. Knowing his word so we can know his character, and be near to him. In Romans 12, Paul says that true worship is to offer our bodies "as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God." That is what we strive for. Whether it's our time, money, relationships, plans, degrees, careers, and everything else that makes up our lives- we surrender it all to Jesus in worship

Family

In addition to the greatest, Jesus also gave us the second greatest commandment: "love your neighbor as yourself." At Chi Alpha, we love each other. A lot. Wether we're sharing life in Dgroup (discipleship group), celebrating together at a Monday night service, getting away on a retreat, or flying all over the world to serve the poor and oppressed, we love doing it together. We have found a bond unlike any other that comes from passionately and transparently pursuing after Christ with our brothers and sisters. We are fighting for a community like that found in Acts chapter 2. Community that is marked by devotion to the word, fellowship with one another, sharing of burdens, sacrifice, and the Lord adding to our number daily.

Mission

Jesus also gave us a commission-it's pretty great. In Matthew 28, Jesus says "therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." We believe that it is the call of every Christ follower to be actively involved in fulfilling this commission. More so, we believe that we were all made to be missional. That when we sacrificially give of ourselves in this way, we become more of who we were made to be. We are actively calling, equipping, and sending students into the mission field. Locally, nationally, and globally we sacrifice to serve the poor and the oppressed, and proclaim Jesus with our words and lives.

FAQ

Is Chi Alpha a fraternity or a sorority?

Nope. Chi Alpha exists to introduce university students to Jesus and teach them to fulfill their part in the Great Commission. We do this through one on one mentoring, small group discipleship, leadership training, large group study, and both personal and corporate prayer and worship. By doing this, we can transform the University, the Marketplace, and the World.

Where does Chi Alpha meet?

Right now, Chi Alpha only meets in small groups around campus. We will eventually have a large group meeting on campus.

What denomination is Chi Alpha?

Chi Alpha is a trans-denominational ministry. The staff and students come from all different denominational backgrounds and we believe that our unity in Christ transcends denominational differences. Our goal is to gather together as a body, learn from each others’ strengths. and experiences a relationship with God that exists beyond doctrinal differences.

What do I have to do to join Chi Alpha?

The first step is to get involved with a D-Group. These small groups are the heart of Chi Alpha’s ministry and enable students to join together and be transformed through real accountability, in-depth biblical study. and faith-filled prayer. If you haven’t been involved in a D-Group, chances are you haven’t really experienced the fullness of what Chi Alpha has to offer. For more information on D-Groups, click here to get in touch with a member of the Staff or a student leader.

Does Chi Alpha have small groups?

Yes! Chi Alpha has a number of small groups called D-Groups. These “discipleship” based groups meet at various times throughout the week and exist to foster God-centered, life long relationships. It’s never too late to get plugged into a D-Group. If you’d like to join a D-Group, click here, and Sign Up! You’ll have someone calling you in no time to get to know you!
