FALL RETREAT

Fall Retreat is our favorite excuse to get together with our brothers and sisters from the campuses of across the state, for a weekend full of worship, community, and fun! There’s something so beautiful about getting away from the busyness of school, work, and life and allowing yourself time with God and with your Chi Alpha family. This retreat consists of different worship services and speakers, small group seminar talks with different topics such as “what does surrender really mean?” outdoor games and activities during free time, and late-night bonfires with delicious s’ mores. This retreat allows you space to clear your mind from all the distractions of everyday life and to really press in and hear from God more clearly than maybe you ever have. You also get the chance to meet some amazing folks from other campuses as well as your own. You’ll leave realizing that you’re a part of something much bigger than yourself. It’s an incredible experience, so please don’t miss it!

Discipleship Groups

d-groups

These small groups are the heart of Chi Alpha’s ministry and enable students to join together and be transformed through real accountability, in-depth biblical study, and faith-filled prayer. If you haven’t been involved in a D-Group, you haven’t really experienced the full potential of what Jesus wants to transform you into.

“..the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” - 2 Timothy 2:2

Did you know that every Christian today can trace his spiritual lineage back to one of the 12 disciples? Discipleship is like a huge pyramid scheme and has been described as one beggar telling another beggar where to find bread. We are committed to following Jesus’s example of making disciples, that will make disciples, that will make disciples, and so on..

“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” - Proverbs 27:17

D-Groups, or discipleship groups, could also be renamed as obedience groups. We employ the same method Jesus used with his disciples, of discovering God’s character and nature in response to life’s challenges, so that we may be more obedient to the word of God. We study the bible not to just memorize facts, but to encounter the living God and reconcile ourselves to him.

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends.” - John 15:13

Jesus taught us what love really is. Love is sacrifice. You only love something as much as you are willing to pay for it. Jesus loved us so much that he, the king of the universe, laid down his life for a people that rejected him. If you come to D-Group, don’t bother coming unless you are prepared to learn to love in a likewise manner. Chances are the guys/girls in your D-Group will be the ones you ask to be in your wedding, because of the deep relationship you will form over your pursuit of God.

For more information on D-Groups, get in touch with a member of the staff or a student leader. You can email Daniel or Catherine at danielandrews.xa@gmail.com or catherineandrews.xa@gmail.com. To sign up for a D-Group click here

Worship Gatherings

Worship Gatherings

WORSHIP

“Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. - 1 Samuel 15:22

The truest form of worship requires action, not only in church singing songs of praise but also in obedience to his word. We don’t wait until a big group gathering to worship God, but rather we practice remaining in his presence and being obedient to his word. But don’t you think that if you worship God in your actions, that you would also be compelled to worship in song too?

Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise--the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. - Hebrews 13:15

In the popular independent film, Into The Wild, after a long journey alone in pursuit of meaning, the main character comes to the revelation that “Happiness is only real when shared.” For example, If you see a fancy car, like a Ferrari, your natural inclination is to look for someone to share your praise of the vehicle. “Dude, look at that sweet car!” It's all too natural to worship things, it has been built into us. Therefore, the worship that happens daily in our actions also manifests in our large gatherings in song and preaching.

We meet for our large group service in Reynolds Room 210 at 7:30

COME TOGETHER

Come together is explained in its name alone. It’s an opportunity to join with different Chi Alpha’s from all over the state of Arkansas. From the campus of U of A, to ASU Jonesboro, we get to connect with some amazing folks who share the same heart for campus ministry as we do. There will be challenging speakers, amazing worship time, encouraging small group talks such as “how do I experience the Holy Spirit in my life?” dodgeball tournaments, and an afternoon exploring the city of Hot Springs with some new friends. You will experience the presence of God in a mighty way alongside your brothers and sisters from all over the state. It’s an incredible three days!

Missions

PROJECT 222

2 Timothy 2:2 serves as the lens through which we view world missions. This verse is the model for which we disciple those we reach with the Gospel, whether on the college campus or on the mountain plains of Southern Africa. Project 222 sends teams of students into Southern Africa each year developing wonderful long-term ministry partnerships that continue to multiply! We strive to fulfill the words Jesus left us with from Mark 16:15, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.”
